U.S.<\/span>\u00a0Customs and Border Protection (CBP<\/span>) recently announced the expansion of Global Entry to citizens of Colombia. Global Entry, a\u00a0CBP\u00a0<\/span>Trusted Traveler Program, allows for expedited clearance of pre-approved, low-risk travelers.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n CBP<\/span>\u00a0says<\/a>\u00a0that Colombian citizens can begin applying for Global Entry through the\u00a0Global Online Enrollment System (GOES<\/span>)<\/a>\u00a0Web site. Colombia becomes the first country in South America and the eighth country overall whose citizens will be eligible to enroll in Global\u00a0Entry.<\/p>\n \u201cCBP<\/span>\u00a0is excited to expand our partnership with Colombia by offering our flagship Trusted Traveler Program to Colombian citizens,\u201d said Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske. \u201cWe\u2019re confident that together,\u00a0CBP<\/span>\u00a0and Colombia can enhance security and facilitate travel between our two countries and together transform the international arrivals process to make it more secure, efficient, and\u00a0welcoming.\u201d<\/p>\n Currently available at forty-nine\u00a0U.S.<\/span>\u00a0airports and thirteen pre-clearance locations,\u00a0Global Entry<\/a>\u00a0streamlines the international arrivals process at airports for trusted travelers. Global Entry members bypass the traditionalCBP<\/span>\u00a0inspection lines and use an automated kiosk to complete their admission to the United States. The program has enrolled more than 3.1 million members, and\u00a0CBP<\/span>\u00a0receives approximately 100,000 new applications for Global Entry each month. As an added benefit, Global Entry members are also eligible to participate in the\u00a0TSA<\/span>\u00a0Pre\u2713expedited screening\u00a0program.<\/p>\n U.S.<\/span>\u00a0citizens, U.S nationals, and\u00a0U.S.<\/span>\u00a0Lawful Permanent Residents may apply for Global Entry as well as citizens of\u00a0certain countries<\/a>\u00a0with whichCBP<\/span>\u00a0has trusted traveler arrangements, including Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Republic of Korea, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and now Colombia. Canadian citizens and residents enrolled in\u00a0NEXUS<\/span>\u00a0may also use the Global Entry\u00a0kiosks.<\/p>\n The non-refundable application fee for a five-year Global Entry membership is $100 and applications must be submitted online. Once the application is approved, a\u00a0CBP<\/span>\u00a0officer will conduct a scheduled interview with the applicant and then make a final eligibility\u00a0determination.<\/p>\n While the goal of Global Entry is to speed travelers through the process, members may be selected for further examination when entering the United States. Any violation of the program\u2019s terms and conditions will result in appropriate enforcement action and revocation of the traveler\u2019s membership\u00a0privileges.<\/p>\n CBP<\/span>\u00a0says that it continues to maximize its resources to support a 16 percent growth in international air arrivals since 2009. Among other things,\u00a0CBP<\/span>\u00a0is working to bring advances in technology and automation, such as\u00a0Automated Passport Control<\/a>\u00a0kiosks, the\u00a0Mobile Passport Control<\/a>\u00a0app, andI-94 form<\/a>\u00a0automation, to the passenger processing while exploring public-private partnerships to help support current and future\u00a0missions.<\/p>\n
